GRLZ Program Director

Hello everyone!  I'm Bernadette aka "Bernie:, the Program Director of GRLZradio.org.  I am very proud to be leading a group of intelligent, committed, and dedicated young women who are invested in their community.  I have worked with youth in the Boston area communities for more than 15 years and am a proud parent of a teen boy myself.  I can honestly say that working at GRLZradio.org is a breath of fresh air as the young women here are passionate about their work and believe in serving those who would otherwise not have a voice.  GRLZradio.org is a place where youth can develop their skills in areas of radio programming, broadcasting in addition to building healthy relationships, leadership skills, and self-esteem.   These ladies will go on to greatness and realize many of their dreams as they continue to be Heard and Respected throughout their lives.
If you are interested in participating with the GRLZradio.org program click here  to complete the
online application. Once we receive it, someone will be in contact with you.

Hello Everyone!!! I am the lovely Shalaya West formerly known as DJ Shay~West. I serve GRLZradio.org as the current Outreach Coordinator. I am a recent college graduate of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. I hold a bachelors degree in English: Writing, Rhetoric, and Communications. Before I was a college graduate doing my thing, I was a participant of GRLZradio.org. The opportunities that have come my way from GRLZradio.org have been endless!

In 2006, I participated in Mayor Thomas M. Menino’s inauguration reciting a self written poem. Shortly after that, Liz Walker interviewed me for her Sunday morning show. Now once again I’ve gravitated back to GRLZradio.org. Summer 2010 I was offered the position of Youth Supervisor. 2011 is here and I have climbed the ladder of success once again! I am now the Outreach Coordinator for GRLZradio.org! This program transformed me into a woman. It helped mold me into a reliable, compassionate, strong, and determined person.
I truly never left GRLZradio.org. I kept close connections with some of the girls because I want to inspire and help mold the youth of our city. GRLZradio.org is not only a program for girls, but a family for them as well. I love being a part of the GRLZ Radio Family “Where Girls are Heard and Respected!”

GRLZ Radio
Hello everyone! I'm Jaala, the Training Coordinator at GRLZradio.org. I must say that I am truly honored to be working with some tremendously wonderful young ladies from different areas in Boston.  I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications with a concentration in Television and Radio. I have had the opportunity to work with teen girls at the young age of 16 where I had chance to be a counselor for three years.  It has always been my passion to work with teenage women to encourage them to become leaders in their communities. GRLZradio is where we encourage girls to have a voice and where they feel respected.

"You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don't make money your goal. Instead pursue the things you love doing and then do them so well that people can't take their eyes off of you."
